Hamilton Farm Airstrip

During WW2 an airfield was constructed next to Hamilton farm. The USAAF Ninth air force required several temporary advanced landing ground (ALG) along the channel coast prior to June 1994 Normandy invasion to provide tactical air support for the ground forces landing in France. Kingsnorth was selected in July 1942 and given the final go ahead for construction in December with a completion date of March 1st 1943.

Hamilton farm is a non profit making venture which caters for microlights & light aircraft owners. Being only 4 miles S.E. of Ashford Kent most of the owners are local. Other activities at the farm include clay pigeon shooting to help towards local charities. The airstrip is not open to visiting aircraft. It is a working sheep raze during the winter months. Hay is grown during the summer & distributed to the equestrian paternity. We have a positive wildlife policy with three well stocked pond, which encourage all types of wild life ranging from adder snakes to newts 7 frogs. to increase this one acre has been set aside which is only grazed in winter to encourage butterflies & a array of wild flowers.

Hamilton Farm CL is situated on a private airfield where Richard Thomas operates from with his own acrobatic plane. Also the occasional visiting aircraft can be seen. Our site is centrally located, just 3 miles SSE of Ashford. Cantebury is 13 miles away, Rye 15 miles and Folkestone is 13 miles.
Set in nearly 70 acres, it has a fantastic lake with 4 additional ponds where CAMC members can fish for Carp, Tench, Rudd and Roach. The CL is adults only for this reason.

There are also 5 large grass pitches, all of which had 10 amps electric hook-ups.No size restriction:

Excellent road and rail links to other parts of the country. Easy Motorhome parking in nearby Ashford & Canterbury.
Close to award winning beaches. World-famous castles, gardens, vineyards - all in easy reach.
The nearest pub is The White Horse Bilsington - 1.5 miles away on the edge of Romney Marsh. Great food.
The Farriers Arms is 2 miles away in the village of Mersham. With live music some nights & a beer festival (last weekend of July).

Cycling & Walking - There are many cycle routes and beautiful walks on and off road within the local area.
